إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخۡتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِمَّا يَأۡكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زُخۡرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتۡ وَظَنَّ أَهۡلُهَآ أَنَّهُمۡ قَٰدِرُونَ عَلَيۡهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمۡرُنَا لَيۡلًا أَوۡ نَهَارٗا فَجَعَلۡنَٰهَا حَصِيدٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ تَغۡنَ بِٱلۡأَمۡسِۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لِقَوۡمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
The example of [this] worldly life is but like rain which We have sent down from the sky that the plants of the earth absorb - [those] from which men and livestock eat - until, when the earth has taken on its adornment and is beautified and its people suppose that they have capability over it, there comes to it Our command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus do We explain in detail the signs for a people who give thought
The life of this world is for the purpose of putting man to the test. Therefore, here man has been given complete freedom and all sorts of opportunities. Apparently, a man is free to do whatever he likes and to shape his own future in whatever way he likes. But in the midst of these preoccupations, certain events unfold which teach lessons to thoughtful persons and which indicate the fact that all this is temporary and will very soon be taken away from them. One such example is that of green vegetation on the earth. When there is rain, the earth becomes lush green with different kinds of vegetation. Man is pleased with this; he starts thinking that things are completely under his control and very soon he will be the owner of a rich crop. Exactly at the same time, some calamity suddenly befalls him, for example, a tornado strikes, there is snowfall or there is a plague of locusts and in this way the whole crop is destroyed in a moment. The same is true of man’s life. Man is born with a fine body. The worldly factors are in his favour and he shapes for himself a very successful and glorious life. Now he develops confidence in himself; he thinks that his affairs are under his control. But one day, or one night, he suddenly meets with death. A person who considers himself powerful, suddenly finds himself in a condition of total helplessness and powerlessness. If man keeps this reality in view, he will never be arrogant in this world; he will never be guilty of oppression or injustice.
دنیا کی زندگی امتحان کے لیے ہے۔ اس لیے انسان کو یہاں مکمل آزادی اور ہر قسم کے کھلے مواقع ديے گئے ہیں۔ بظاہر ایسا معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ انسان آزاد ہے کہ جو چاہے کرے اور جس قسم کا مستقبل چاہے اپنے ليے بنائے۔ مگر انھیں حالات کے درمیان ایسے واقعات بھی رکھ ديے گئے ہیں جو سوچنے والوں کے ليے نصیحت کا کام کرتے ہیں، جو اس حقیقت کی نشاندہی کررہے ہیں کہ یہ سب کچھ محض وقتی ہے اور بہت جلد اس سے چھن جانے والا ہے۔
انھیں میں سے ایک زمین کی سرسبزی کا واقعہ ہے۔ جب بارش ہوتی ہے تو زمین ہر قسم کی نباتات سے لہلہا اٹھتی ہے۔ آدمی ان کو دیکھ کر خوش ہوتا ہے۔ وہ سمجھنے لگتا ہے کہ معاملہ پوری طرح اس کے قابو میں ہے اور بہت جلد وہ تیار فصل کا مالک بننے والا ہے۔ عین اس وقت اچانک کوئی آفت آجاتی ہے۔ مثلاً بگولا آگیا، اولے پڑ گئے، ٹڈی دل پہنچ گیا اور ایک لمحہ میں ساری فصل کا خاتمہ کردیا۔
یہی حال انسانی زندگی کا ہے۔ آدمی ایک عمدہ جسم لے کر پیدا ہوتا ہے۔ دنیا کے اسباب اس کا ساتھ دیتے ہیں اور وہ اپنے لیے ایک کامیاب اور شان دار زندگی بنا لیتاہے۔ اب اس کے اندر ایک اعتماد پیدا ہوجاتاہے۔ وہ سمجھتا ہے کہ اس کا معاملہ اس کے اپنے اختیا رمیں ہے۔ اس کے بعد کسی دن یا کسی رات میں اچانک اس کی موت آجاتی ہے۔ اپنے آپ کو بااختیار سمجھنے والا یکایک اپنے کو اس حال میں پاتا ہے کہ مجبوری اور بے اختیاری کے سوا اس کے پاس اور کوئی سرمایا نہیں — آدمی اگر اس حقیقت کو سامنے رکھے تو وہ دنیا میں کبھی سرکش نہ بنے، وہ کبھی کسی کے ساتھ ظلم اور بے انصافی کا طریقہ اختیار نہ کرے۔
