وَقِيلَ يَـٰٓأَرۡضُ ٱبۡلَعِي مَآءَكِ وَيَٰسَمَآءُ أَقۡلِعِي وَغِيضَ ٱلۡمَآءُ وَقُضِيَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ وَٱسۡتَوَتۡ عَلَى ٱلۡجُودِيِّۖ وَقِيلَ بُعۡدٗا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and the ship came to rest on the [mountain of] Judiyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people
On the occasion of Noah’s flood, a strange happening was to be seen: those who had taken refuge by climbing tall peaks were drowned, while those who boarded the Ark were safe, in spite of the fact that the boat had been tossed about on a terrible stormy sea. The reason for this was neither in the peaks themselves nor in the Ark itself. The reason was that this was a matter of God’s will. Had God’s command focussed on the peaks, they would have saved those who had taken refuge on them, while those who had boarded the Ark would have lost their lives. But on this occasion, God’s command focussed on the Ark. So, those who were on it were safe and those who sought refuge in other things were drowned. The system of ‘cause and effect’ in this world is only a veil; otherwise, whatever is happening happens by the direct orders of God. It is the test of a human being that he should be able to tear asunder the outward veil and see the reality; he should discover the divine powers working behind the screen of cause and effect.
جب کشتی بن کر تیار ہوگئی تو خدا کے حکم سے طوفانی ہوائیں چلنے لگیں۔ زمین سے پانی کے دہانے پھوٹ پڑے۔ اوپر سے مسلسل بارش ہونے لگی۔ یہاں تک کہ ہر طرف پانی ہی پانی ہوگیا۔ تمام لوگ اس میں ڈوب گئے۔ صرف وہ چند انسان اور کچھ مویشی بچے جو حضرت نوح کی کشتی میں سوار تھے۔ حتی کہ حضرت نوح کا بیٹا بھی غرق ہوگیا — خدا کی نظر میں کسی کی قیمت اس کے عمل کے اعتبار سے ہے، نہ کہ رشتہ کے اعتبار سے، خواہ وہ رشتہ پیغمبر کا کیوں نہ ہو۔
جب تمام ڈوبنے والے ڈوب چکے تو خدا نے حکم دیا کہ طوفان تھم جائے، اور طوفان تھم گیا۔ پانی سمندروں اور دریاؤں میں چلا گیا اور زمین دوبارہ رہنے کے قابل ہوگئی۔
طوفانِ نوح کے موقع پر دیکھنے والوں نے یہ منظر دیکھا کہ اونچے پہاڑ پر چڑھنے والے ڈوب گئے اور ہولناک موجوں کے باوجود کشتی میں بیٹھے والے سلامت رہے۔ اس کی وجہ خود پہاڑ میں یا کشتی میں نہ تھی۔ اس کی وجہ یہ تھی کہ یہ حکم خداوندی کا معاملہ تھا۔ حکم خداوندی اگر پہاڑ کے ساتھ ہوتا تو پہاڑ اپنے چڑھنے والوں کو بچاتا اور کشتی کا سہارا لینے والے ہلاک ہوجاتے۔ مگر اس موقع پر حکم خداوندی کشتی کے ساتھ تھا۔ اس لیے کشتی والے محفوظ رہے اور دوسری چیزوں کی پناہ لینے والے غرق ہوگئے۔
دنیا میں اسباب کا نظام محض ایک پردہ ہے۔ ورنہ یہاں جو کچھ ہورہا ہے براہِ راست خداکے حکم سے ہو رہا ہے۔ انسان کا امتحان یہ ہے کہ وہ ظاہری پردہ سے گزر کر اصل حقیقت کو دیکھ لے۔ وہ اسباب کے اندر خدائی طاقتوں کو کام کرتا ہوا پالے۔
