وَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡ رُسُلُنَا لُوطٗا سِيٓءَ بِهِمۡ وَضَاقَ بِهِمۡ ذَرۡعٗا وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوۡمٌ عَصِيبٞ
And when Our messengers, [the angels], came to Lot, he was anguished for them and felt for them great discomfort and said, "This is a trying day
The angels who had come to Lot were the angels of retribution. But they entered the town in the shape of very handsome youths. This was intended to establish the guilt of Lot’s community quite finally. When a man continuously indulges in an evil, he becomes completely insensitive about it. This was the case with Lot’s community. They were now openly indulging in evil deeds. So, when they saw that handsome young men had come to Lot’s house, they rushed to his house full of lustful, lewd feelings. With utter shamelessness, they started demanding that the young men be handed over to them. When Lot saw the miscreants coming in this manner, he was extremely ashamed. He said, ‘Here are the daughters of the community. You may marry any of them you like and satisfy your natural instincts.’ The elderly persons of a community speak of the daughters of the community as if they were their own offspring. In this sense, Lot referred to the daughters of the community as his own daughters. But they rejected Lot’s legitimate offer, and continued to press for what was illegitimate. This finally established that these were evil, guilty people and certainly deserved to be destroyed. So, thereafter, all of them were annihilated. ‘Is there not a single right-minded man among you?’ This is generally the last utterance of a servant of God who has no material power to restrain miscreants, when all rational persuasion has failed to hold them back. At that time, by uttering such words, he invokes the prestige of the community and awakens its conscience. In spite of this, if his hearers remain insensitive, it means that there is not an iota of humanity or honour left in them.
حضرت لوط کے پاس جو فرشتے آئے وہ عذاب کے فرشتے تھے۔ مگر وہ نہایت خوب صورت نوجوانوں کی صورت میں بستی کے اندر داخل ہوئے۔ یہ دراصل ان کو آخری طورپر مجرم ثابت کرنے کے لیے تھا۔ آدمی جب مسلسل ایک برائی کرتا ہے تو اس کے بارے میں وہ بالکل بے حس ہوجاتا ہے۔ یہی حال قوم لوط کا تھا۔ وہ اب کھلم کھلا بدکاری کرنے لگے تھے۔ چنانچہ جب انھوںنے دیکھا کہ خوبصورت لڑکے حضرت لوط کے گھر آئے ہوئے ہیں تو وہ شہوت کے جذبات ليے ہوئے آپ کے گھر کی طرف دوڑپڑے۔ انھوںنے انتہائی بے حیائی کے ساتھ مطالبہ شروع کردیا کہ ان لڑکوں کو ہمارے حوالے کردیا جائے۔
حضرت لوط نے شریر لوگوں کو اس طرح آتے ہوئے دیکھا تو آپ پر سخت شرم اور غیرت طاری ہوئی۔ آپ نے کہا ’’یہ قوم کی بیٹیاں ہیں، ان میں سے جس سے چاہو نکاح کرلو اور اپنی فطری خواہش پوری کرو‘‘۔ کسی قوم میں جو بڑے بوڑھے ہوتے ہیں وہ قوم کی تمام لڑکیوں کو بیٹی کہہ کر پکارتے ہیں۔ اسی معنی میں حضرت لوط نے قوم کی بیٹیوں کو ’’میری بیٹیاں‘‘ فرمایا۔مگر ان لوگوں نے حضرت لوط کی جائز پیش کش کو ٹھکرا دیا اور ناجائز کی طرف بدستور دوڑتے رہے۔ اس سے آخری طور پر ثابت ہوگیا کہ یہ مجرم لوگ ہیں اور یقیناً اس قابل ہیں کہ انھیں ہلاک کردیا جائے۔ چنانچہ اس کے بعد وہ سب کے سب ہلاک کرديے گئے۔
’’کیا تم میں ایک بھی رجلِ رشید نہیں‘‘— یہ اس بندۂ خدا کا آخری کلمہ ہوتا ہے جس کے پاس شریر لوگوں کو روکنے کے لیے مادی قوت نہ ہو اور معقولیت کی تمام باتیں ان کو روکنے کے لیے ناکافی ثابت ہوئی ہوں۔ اس وقت اس طرح کا جملہ بول کر وہ قوم کی غیرت کو پکارتا ہے اور اس کے ضمیر کو بیدار کرنا چاہتا ہے۔ اس کے بعد بھی اگر ایسا ہو کہ لوگ بدستور بے حس بنے رہیں تو اس کا مطلب ہوتاہے کہ ان کے اندر انسانیت اور شرافت کاکوئی درجہ باقی نہیں رہا۔
