وَرَٰوَدَتۡهُ ٱلَّتِي هُوَ فِي بَيۡتِهَا عَن نَّفۡسِهِۦ وَغَلَّقَتِ ٱلۡأَبۡوَٰبَ وَقَالَتۡ هَيۡتَ لَكَۚ قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ رَبِّيٓ أَحۡسَنَ مَثۡوَايَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him. She closed the doors and said, "Come, you." He said, "[I seek] the refuge of Allah. Indeed, he is my master, who has made good my residence. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed
Zulaykha, the wife of the nobleman, was charmed by the beauty of Joseph. She constantly tried to seduce him and one day, finding the opportunity, she closed the door of the room. This was a very critical occasion for an unmarried youth, but Joseph had preserved his godly nature and this nature came to his rescue on this occasion. The capacity to distinguish between truth and untruth, right and wrong, is ingrained in every human being by birth and this serves as a warning on all such occasions. To ignore it amounts to ignoring the voice of God. One who does so is deprived of God’s succour so that his moral strength gradually ebbs away. On the contrary, one who immediately bows down before the divine call, as soon as it is given, can count on God’s help; this improves his moral fibre and on future occasions he becomes stronger in the face of evil. What prevented Joseph from indulging in evil was in fact the fear of God but, at that time, invoking God before Zulaykha would have been ineffective. This was not an occasion for a declaration of Truth but an occasion when he had to save himself in a critical situation. In view of this situation he referred to Zulaykha’s husband. He said that ‘her husband was his master and he had maintained him in his house with due honour. Therefore, it was not possible for him to besmirch the honour of his benefactor.’
عزیز مصر کی بیوی زلیخا حضرت یوسف پر فریفتہ ہوگئی۔ وہ بر ابر آپ کو پھسلاتی رہی۔ یہاں تک کہ ایک روز موقع پاکر اس نے کمرہ کا دروازہ بند کرلیا۔
ایک غیر شادی شدہ نوجوان کے لیے یہ بڑا نازک موقع تھا۔ مگر حضرت یوسف نے اپنی فطرت ربّانی کو محفوظ رکھا تھا اور یہ فطرت اس وقت حضرت یوسف کے کام آگئی۔ حق اور ناحق بھلائی اور برائی کو پہچاننے کی یہ طاقت ہر آدمی کے اندر پیدائشی طورپر موجود ہوتی ہے۔ وہ ہر موقع پر انسان کو متنبہ کرتی ہے۔ جو شخص اس کو نظر انداز کردے اس نے گویا خدا کی آواز کو نظر انداز کردیا۔ ایسا آدمی خدا کی مدد سے محروم ہو کر دھیرے دھیرے اپنی فطرت کو کمزور کرلیتاہے۔ اس کے برعکس جو شخص خدائی پکار کے ظاہر ہوتے ہی اس کے آگے جھک جائے، خدا کی مدد اس کی استعداد بڑھاتی رہتی ہے۔ وہ اس قابل ہوجاتا ہے کہ آئندہ زیادہ قوت کے ساتھ برائی کے مقابلہ میں ٹھہر سکے۔
حضرت یوسف کو جس چیز نے برائی سے روکا وہ حقیقۃً اللہ کا ڈر تھا۔ مگر زلیخا کے لیے خدا کا حوالہ دینا اس وقت بے اثر رہتا۔ یہ موقع اعلان حق کا نہیں تھا بلکہ ایک نازک صورت حال سے اپنے آپ کو بچانے کا تھا اسی نزاکت کی بنا پر آپ نے زلیخا کو اس کے شوہر کا حوالہ دیا۔ آپ نے فرمایا کہ وہ میرا آقا ہے۔ اس نے مجھے نہایت عزت کے ساتھ اپنے گھر میں رکھا ہے۔ پھر کیسے ممکن ہے کہ میں اپنے محسن کے ناموس پر حملہ کروں۔
