إِذۡ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّي رَأَيۡتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوۡكَبٗا وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ رَأَيۡتُهُمۡ لِي سَٰجِدِينَ
[Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father, "O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me
According to a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, there are three kinds of dreams—those of wish fulfillment, fear of Satan and good tidings from God. A common man’s dream may be of any of these kinds, but a Prophet’s dream is always from God. Sometimes it is direct in meaning and sometimes it is purely symbolic. Joseph lived in the nineteenth century B.C. His father, Jacob, was a resident of Palestine. Joseph and his brother Benjamin (Bin Yamin) were born of the same mother, while their ten older brothers had different mothers. In Joseph’s dream the sun and the moon stood for his parents and the eleven stars meant his eleven brothers. This dream predicted that prophethood would be conferred on Joseph and it also signified that the political power and worldly glory ordained for him would be decreed by God after his reaching Egypt; after which all his family members would be compelled to recognize his greatness. Looking at Joseph’s personality and his popularity, his ten step brothers were jealous of him, so his father Jacob (Ya‘qub), on hearing his dream, immediately advised Joseph not to mention it to his stepbrothers, as they would otherwise become even more hostile towards him. Feeling jealous of a person on account of his greatness shows an evil nature. One who has this trait in him ought to turn to God in repentance, because this is a proof that he is not reconciled to God’s will; he is following the lead of Satan rather than God’s guidance.
حدیث میں ہے کہ خواب کی تین قسمیں ہیں۔ اپنے دل کی بات، شیطان کا ڈر اوا اور خداکی بشارت۔ عام آدمی کا خواب تینوں میں سے کوئی بھی ہوسکتا ہے۔ مگر پیغمبر کا خواب ہمیشہ خدا کی بشارت ہوتاہے، کبھی راست انداز میں اور کبھی تمثیلی انداز میں۔
حضرت یوسف کا زمانہ انیسویں صدی قبل مسیح کا زمانہ ہے۔ آپ کے والد حضرت یعقوب فلسطین میں رہتے تھے۔ حضرت یوسف اور ان کے بھائی بن یامین ایک ماں سے تھے اوربقیہ دس بھائی دوسری ماؤں سے۔ اس خواب میں سورج اور چاند سے مراد آپ کے والدین ہیں اور گیارہ ستاروں سے مراد گیارہ بھائی۔ اس میں یہ بشارت تھی کہ حضرت یوسف کو پیغمبری ملے گی اور اسی کے ساتھ یہ خواب آپ کے اس عروج واقتدار کی تمثیل تھا جو بعد کو مصر پہنچ کر آپ کو ملا اور جس کے بعد سارے اہل خاندان مجبور ہوئے کہ وہ آپ کی عظمت کو تسلیم کرلیں۔
حضرت یوسف کے دس سوتیلے بھائی آپ کی شخصیت اور مقبولیت کو دیکھ کر آپ سے حسد رکھتے تھے۔ اس لیے آپ کے والد (حضرت یعقوب) نے خواب سن کر فوراً کہا کہ اپنے بھائیوں سے اس کا ذکر نہ کرنا ورنہ وہ تمھارے اور زیادہ دشمن ہوجائیںگے۔
کسی کی بڑائی دیکھ کر اس کے خلاف جلن پیدا ہونا خالص شیطانی فعل ہے۔ جس شخص کے اندر یہ صفت پائی جائے اس کو اپنے بارے میں توبہ کرنی چاہیے۔ کیوں کہ یہ اس بات کا ثبوت ہے کہ وہ خداکے فیصلہ پر راضی نہیں۔ وہ شیطان کی ہدایت پر چل رہا ہے، نہ کہ خدا کی ہدایت پر۔
یہاںاتمام نعمت کا لفظ حضرت یوسف کے لیے بھی بولا گیا ہے جن کو حکومت حاصل ہوئی اور حضرت ابراہیم کے لیے بھی جن کو کوئی حکومت نہیں ملی۔ پھر دونوں کے درمیان وہ مشترک چیز کیا تھی جس کو اتمام نعمت کہاگیا ہے۔ وہ نبوت تھی۔ یعنی خدا کی اس خصوصی ہدایت کی توفیق جو کسی کو آخرت میں اعلیٰ مراتب تک پہنچانے والی ہے۔ خدا کی ہدایت انسان کے اوپر خدا کی نعمتوں کی تکمیل ہے۔ یہ نعمت پیغمبروں کو براہِ راست طور پر ملتی ہے اور عام صالحین کو بالواسطہ طور پر۔
