ٱرۡجِعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيكُمۡ فَقُولُواْ يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّ ٱبۡنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدۡنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمۡنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلۡغَيۡبِ حَٰفِظِينَ
Return to your father and say, "O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen
Among Joseph’s stepbrothers there was perhaps one brother who was different from the others. He was the same brother who had advised in the initial stage that Joseph should not be killed but pushed into a dry well, so that any caravan passing by could take him with it. That brother faced the same situation in Egypt and he separated himself from the others. His sense of honour prevented him from facing his father before whom he had already been proven guilty of losing a brother. He did not want him to think him guilty of losing yet another brother.
حضرت یوسف کے سوتیلے بھائیوں میں غالباً ایک بھائی دوسروں سے مختلف تھا۔ اسی بھائی نے ابتدائی مرحلہ میں مشورہ دیا تھا کہ یوسف کوقتل نہ کرو بلکہ کسی اندھے کنوئیں میں ڈال دو تاکہ کوئی آتا جاتا قافلہ اس کو نکال لے جائے۔ یہی حال اب اس بھائی کا مصر میںہوا۔ وہ دوسرے بھائیوں سے الگ ہوگیا۔ اس کی غیرت نے گوارا نہیں کیا کہ جس باپ کے نزدیک وہ ایک بھائی کو کھونے کا مجرم بن چکا ہے، اسی باپ کے سامنے اب وہ دوسرے بھائی کو کھونے کا مجرم بن کر حاضر ہو۔
