يَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُۥ وَيَأۡتِيهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٖ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٖۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِۦ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٞ
He will gulp it but will hardly [be able to] swallow it. And death will come to him from everywhere, but he is not to die. And before him is a massive punishment
In the eyes of God, man’s greatest crime is his adoption of an attitude of arrogance and obstinacy when he is called upon to submit to God. For such people there shall be disgrace in this world and in the Hereafter. Their punishment will be so severe that they will find themselves constantly on the verge of death and destruction. When a man becomes tyrannical and arrogant towards others, he does it with some backing. The opponents of Islam felt their position to be impregnable because they followed the religion of their ‘great men’. In comparison the Prophet and his Companions appeared to them to be lesser mortals. It was this mentality which prompted them to consider legitimate all types of persecution of the Prophet and his Companions. It was due to their linking themselves with their ‘great men’ that they became bold enough to take all sorts of punitive action against the so-called ‘small men’.
خدا کے نزدیک کسی آدمی کا سب سے بڑا جرم یہ ہے کہ اس کو خدا کی طرف بلایا جائے اور وہ جبّار اور عنید بن کر اس کا جواب دے۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لیے دنیا میں ذلت ہے اور آخرت میں ایسا شدیدعذاب کہ وہ ہر وقت اپنے آپ کو موت اور ہلاکت کے کنارے پائیں گے۔
جب آدمی کسی کے خلاف ظلم اور سرکشی کا رویہ اختیار کرتاہے تو وہ کسی برتے پر ایسا کرتاہے۔ یہ مخالفین اپنے آپ کو ’’اکابر‘‘ کے دین پر سمجھتے تھے۔ اس کے مقابلہ میں پیغمبر اور اس کے ساتھی ان کو ’’اصاغر‘‘ دکھائی دیتے تھے۔ ان کی یہی نفسیات تھی جس نے انھیں آمادہ کیا کہ وہ پیغمبر اور اس کے ساتھوں کے اوپر ہر قسم کے ظلم کو اپنے لیے جائز سمجھ لیں۔ اپنے كو ’’اکابر‘‘ سے منسوب کرنے ہی کي وجہ سے وہ ’’اصاغر‘‘ کے خلاف ہر قسم کی کارروائیوں کے لیے دلیر ہوگئے۔
