وَحَنَانٗا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةٗۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيّٗا
And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah
It is said that once during John’s childhood, some children asked him to come and play with them. He refused and said, ‘We have not been created for this.’ This shows that from his very childhood he was conscious that life should be purposeful. Sensitive by nature and possessed of a feeling heart, he was free of psychological complexes. He scrupulously fulfilled his duties to his parents and was completely devoid of arrogance or willfulness. These are the qualities that give man the ability never to diverge from the path of God’s Book. It is the possessor of such qualities who is showered with God’s mercy in this world and in the life hereafter.
کہا جاتا ہےکہ حضرت یحییٰ جب چھوٹے تھے تو لڑکوں نے ایک بار انھیں کھیلنے کے ليے بلایا۔ انھوںنے انکار کردیا اور کہاکہ’’ ہم اس ليے نہیں بنائے گئے ہیں‘‘۔ اس سے اندازہ ہوتا ہے کہ ان کو بچپن سے یہ شعور حاصل تھا کہ زندگی کو بامقصد ہونا چاہيے۔ اسی طرح ان کے اندر پیدائشی طورپر سوز و گداز موجود تھا۔ وہ نفسیاتی گرہوں سے آزاد تھے۔ وہ اپنے والدین کے حقوق ادا کرنے والے تھے ۔ وہ سرکشی اور نافرمانی سے بالکل خالی تھے۔
یہی وہ اوصاف ہیں جو آدمی کو اس قابل بناتے ہیں کہ وہ کسی حال میں خدا کی کتاب سے نہ ہٹے۔ اور انہیں اوصاف والا آدمی وہ ہے جس پر دنیا میں بھی خدا کی رحمت نازل ہوتی ہے اور آخرت میں بھی خدا کی رحمت۔
