فَأَكَلَا مِنۡهَا فَبَدَتۡ لَهُمَا سَوۡءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخۡصِفَانِ عَلَيۡهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۚ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ
And Adam and his wife ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred
God kept Adam, with his spouse, in paradise, where he was freely and amply provided with all the necessities of life – food, clothing, water and shelter. Adam was not required to do anything in return for these blessings, unlike in the present world where man has to earn all these things by his own hard labour. In paradise, the fruit of a certain tree was prohibited for Adam. But Satan came and described to him the eternal advantages of this fruit. Adam, influenced by what he said, ate it, then immediately felt that he was naked. This was symbolic of the fact that God had instantly withdrawn the guarantee of providing him with sustenance without his having to earn it by his own labour. Thereafter, on his supplication and repentance, he was pardoned. However, he was removed from a world where God’s bounty had been freely given and sent to a world where he had to earn his living by the sweat of his brow. Such was the beginning of human existence on this earth.
آدم اور ان کی بیوی کو جس جنت میں رکھا گیا تھا وہاں زندگی کی تمام ضرورتیں ان کو بفراغت حاصل تھیں۔ غذا، لباس، پانی، سایہ (مکان) یہ سب چیزیں وہاں خدا کی طرف سے بالکل مفت مہیا کی گئی تھیں۔ موجودہ دنیا میں یہ چیزیں آدمی کو پُرمشقت کسب کے ذریعہ ملتی ہیں، جنت میں یہ چیزیں ان کو کسی مشقت کے بغیر حاصل تھیں۔
ایک درخت کا پھل کھانا آدم کے لیے ممنوع تھا۔ شیطان نے اس درخت کے پھل میں ابدی فائدے بتائے۔ بالآخر آدم اس کی باتوں سے متأثر ہوگئے اور انھوں نے اس درخت کا پھل کھالیا۔ اس کے فوراً بعد انھوں نے محسوس کیا کہ وہ ننگے ہوگئے ہیں۔ یہ گویا ایک علامت تھی کہ خدا کی وہ ضمانت ان سے اٹھالی گئی جس کی وجہ سے وہ اب تک بلا کسب روزی کے مالک تھے۔ اس کے بعد توبہ اور دعا کی وجہ سے آدم کی معافی ہوگئی۔ تاہم وہ بلا کسب کی روزی والی دنیا سے نکال کر کسب کی روزی والی دنیا میں پہنچا دئے گئے۔ اس طرح زمین پر موجودہ نسل انسانی کا آغاز ہوا۔
