وَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا يَأۡتِينَا بِـَٔايَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓۚ أَوَلَمۡ تَأۡتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures
Before the coming of Muhammad, the last of the Prophets, Almighty God had given intimation of his advent through the previous prophets. These prophecies were found in the revealed books of the past, and may still be read, even today, in spite of all the alterations made to these books throughout the ages. This remains the most powerful argument in support of the veracity of the final Prophet. But, in order to understand the power of reasoning, seriousness is required—a rare phenomenon in this world.
پیغمبر آخر الزماں کی بعثت سے پہلے اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ اہتمام کیا کہ پچھلے نبیوں کی زبان سے آپ کی آمد کا پیشگی اعلان کیا۔ یہ پیشین گوئیاں آج بھی تمام تحریفات کے باوجود، پچھلی آسمانی کتابوں میں موجود ہیں۔ یہ پیغمبر آخر الزماں کی صداقت کی سب سے بڑی دلیل تھی۔ مگر دلیل کی قوت کو سمجھنے کے لیے سنجیدگی کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے، اور یہ وہ چیز ہے جو ہمیشہ سب سے کم پائی گئی ہے۔
