قَٰلَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ
[Allah] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years
That joy which is everlasting is the real joy. Fleeting moments of joy have no meaning. In the life of this world, man is forgetful of this fact. But in the Hereafter, it will become abundantly clear to him. Truth manifests itself to a man in this world, but he does not want to disturb his status quo, so he does not accept it. He is not prepared to forego the already available present gain for the sake of any promised future gain. The comforts and the considerations of this world appear valuable to him and he is unable to understand why he should ignore them all and attach himself to a ‘non-thing,’ or abstract promise.
عیش وہی ہے جو ابدی ہو۔ جو عیش ابدی نہ ہو وہ جب ختم ہوتا ہے تو ایسامعلوم ہوتا ہے کہ وہ بس ایک لمحہ تھا جو آیا اور گزر گیا۔
دنیا کی زندگی میں آدمی اس حقیقت کو بھولا رہتاہے۔ مگر آخرت میں یہ حقیقت اس پر آخری حد تک کھل جائے گی۔ اس وقت وہ جانے گا۔ مگر اس وقت جاننے کا کوئی فائدہ نہیں۔
دنیا میں آدمی کے سامنے حق آتاہے مگر وہ اپنے سکون کو برہم کرنا نہیں چاہتا اس ليے وہ اس کو قبول نہیںکرتا۔ وہ ملنے والے فائدے کی خاطر ملے ہوئے فائدہ کو چھوڑنے کے ليے تیار نہیںہوتا۔ یہاں کی عزت، یہاں کا آرام، یہاں کی مصلحتیں اس کو اتنی قیمتی معلوم ہوتی ہیں کہ اس کی سمجھ میں نہیں آتا کہ وہ کس طرح ایسا کرے کہ ’’چیز‘‘ کو نظر انداز کرکے اپنے آپ کو ’’بے چیز‘‘ سے وابستہ کرلے۔ حالاں کہ جب عمر کی مہلت پوری ہوگی تو سو سال بھی ایسا معلوم ہوگا جیسے کہ وہ بس ایک دن تھا جو آیا اور ختم ہوگیا۔
