إِذۡ تَلَقَّوۡنَهُۥ بِأَلۡسِنَتِكُمۡ وَتَقُولُونَ بِأَفۡوَاهِكُم مَّا لَيۡسَ لَكُم بِهِۦ عِلۡمٞ وَتَحۡسَبُونَهُۥ هَيِّنٗا وَهُوَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ عَظِيمٞ
When you received it with your tongues and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allah, tremendous
The role of the Prophet Muhammad was that of a preacher of Truth. The position of a preacher, or da‘i, is always extremely delicate. Even a slight mistake on his part can damage his entire mission. Those who lent an ear to baseless slander concerning a Muslim lady, namely ‘A’ishah, and started spreading it all around, were thus acting in a highly irresponsible manner. Had it not been for the timely refutation of the allegations—by direct intervention of God—this would have caused irreparable loss to Islam. Muslims would then have been divided into two groups and would have started fighting against each other. The community, which, according to God’s plan, was to serve as a means of eliminating the prevalence of polytheism from the world, would have destroyed itself in an internecine war.
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حیثیت حق کے داعی کی تھی۔ داعی کا معاملہ بے حد نازک معاملہ ہوتا ہے۔ کردار کی ایک غلطی اس کے پورے مشن کو ڈھادینے کے ليے کافی ہوتی ہے۔ایسی حالت میں جن لوگوں نے یہ کیا کہ ایک اسلامی خاتون کے بارے میں ایک بے بنیاد بات سن کر اس کو اِدھر اُدھر بیان کرنے لگے، انھوں نے سخت غیر ذمہ داری کا ثبوت دیا۔ اگر اللہ تعالیٰ کی خصوصی مدد سے اس الزام کی بروقت تردید نہ ہو گئی ہوتی تو یہ غلطی اسلام کو ناقابلِ تلافی نقصان پہنچانے کا سبب بن جاتی۔ اس کے نتیجے میں پورا سلامی معاشرہ بد گمانیوں کا شکار ہوجاتا۔ مسلمان دو گروہوں میں بٹ کر آپس میں لڑنے لگتے۔ جس گروہ کے ليے خدا کا منصوبہ یہ تھا کہ اس کے ذریعے سے شرک کا عالمی غلبہ ختم کیا جائے وہ آپس کی جنگ میں خود اپنے آپ کو ختم کرلیتا۔
