فَلَمَّا قَضَيۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ مَا دَلَّهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَوۡتِهِۦٓ إِلَّا دَآبَّةُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ تَأۡكُلُ مِنسَأَتَهُۥۖ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ ٱلۡجِنُّ أَن لَّوۡ كَانُواْ يَعۡلَمُونَ ٱلۡغَيۡبَ مَا لَبِثُواْ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِينِ
And when We decreed for Solomon death, nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff. But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment
When it was time for Solomon to die, he was leaning on a stick and having some constructive work done by the ‘jinn’. The angel of death took away his life-spirit, but his lifeless body, with the support of the stick remained upright. The jinn continued with their work under the impression that he was nearby supervising the work. It so happened that some white ants infested the stick and after some time, when the white ants had made the stick hollow, his body fell on to the ground. It was then that the jinn came to know that Solomon had died. This incident suffices to remove the erroneous popular belief that the jinn have knowledge of the future.
حضرت سلیمان علیہ السلام کی موت کا وقت آیا تو وہ اپنا عصا ٹیکے ہوئے تھے اور جنوں سے کوئی تعمیری کام کرارہے تھے۔ موت کے فرشتے نے آپ کی روح قبض کرلی۔ مگر آپ کا بے جان جسم عصا کے سہارے بدستور قائم رہا۔ جنات یہ سمجھ کر اپنے کام میں لگے رہے کہ آپ ان کے قریب موجودہیں اور نگرانی کررہے ہیں۔ اس کے بعد عصا میں دیمک لگ گئی۔ ایک عرصہ کے بعد دیمک نے عصا کو کھوکھلا کردیا تو آپ کا جسم زمین پر گر پڑا اس وقت جنوں کو معلوم ہوا کہ آپ وفات پاچکے ہیں۔
یہ واقعہ اس صورت میں غالباً اس ليے پیش آیا تاکہ لوگوں کے اس غلط عقیدہ کی عملی تردید ہوجائے کہ جنّات غیب کا علم رکھتے ہیں۔
