ٱللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡحَدِيثِ كِتَٰبٗا مُّتَشَٰبِهٗا مَّثَانِيَ تَقۡشَعِرُّ مِنۡهُ جُلُودُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمۡ وَقُلُوبُهُمۡ إِلَىٰ ذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهۡدِي بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادٍ
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide
God has blessed man with a guidebook in the form of the Quran. It has two special qualities. One of its qualities is that it is marked by utmost consistency. In other words, it is a book which has no contradictions. One part does not clash with another. If the Quran’s statements had not corresponded exactly with reality, there would have been differences between and inconsistencies in its various parts. The second quality of the Quran is its use of repetition, that is, its topics are often repeated in different styles. This quality in the Quran shows that it is a book of advice and guidance. An adviser always wishes that his words should establish themselves firmly in the mind of the hearer. For this purpose, he expresses the same statements in different ways. This wisdom is found in the Quran in its best form. It is the nature of man that when he hears some terrible news, or he undergoes some hair-raising experience, his inner being is humbled and his heart is softened by the news. When a serious man reads the Quran he undergoes such spiritual experiences.
قرآن کی صورت میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے ایک بہترین کتاب انسان کو عطا کی ہے۔ اس کی دو خاص صفتیں ہیں۔ ایک یہ کہ وہ متشابہ (ملتی جلتی) ہے۔ یعنی وہ ایک بے تضاد کتاب ہے۔ اس کے ایک جزء اور اس کے دوسرے جزء میں کوئی ٹکراؤ نہیں۔ قرآن کی یہ صفت بتاتی ہے کہ یہ کتاب بیانِ حقیقت پر مبنی ہے۔ اگر اس کے بیانات عین حقیقت نہ ہوتے تو ضرور اس کے مختلف اجزاء کے درمیان اختلاف اور عدم یکسانیت (inconsistency) پیدا ہوجاتی۔
قرآن کی دوسری صفت یہ ہے کہ وہ مثانی (دہرائی ہوئی) کتاب ہے یعنی اس کے مضامین بار بار مختلف پیرایوں سے دہرائے گئے ہیں۔ قرآن کی یہ صفت اس کے کتابِ نصیحت ہونے کو بتاتی ہے۔ نصیحت کرنے والا ہمیشہ یہ چاہتاہے کہ اس کی بات سننے والے کے ذہن میں بیٹھ جائے۔ اس مقصد کےلیے وہ اپنی بات کو مختلف انداز سے بیان کرتاہے۔ یہی حکمت اعلیٰ ترین انداز میں قرآن میں بھی ہے۔
انسان کے اندر یہ خصوصیت ہے کہ جب وہ کوئی دہشت ناک خبر سنتاہے تو اس کے جسم کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہوجاتے ہیں اور اس کے وجود میں ایک قسم کی عاجزانہ نرمی پیدا ہوجاتی ہے۔ یہی حال سنجیدہ انسان کا قرآن کو پڑھ کر ہوتاہے۔ قرآن میں زندگی کی سنگین حقیقتوں کو انتہائی موثر انداز میں بیان کیا گیا ہے۔ اس ليے انسان جیسی مخلوق اگر واقعۃً اس کو سمجھ کر پڑھے تو اس کے جسم کے اوپر وہی کیفیت طاری ہوگی جو کسی سنگین خبر کو سن کر فطری طورپر اس کے اوپر طاری ہونا چاہيے۔
