وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيۡنَٰهُمۡ فَٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ ٱلۡعَمَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتۡهُمۡ صَٰعِقَةُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡهُونِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn
Man is living in a world where the vastness of heaven and earth negates the greatness of man; where the event of death proves that man is a non-entity and truly powerless. In spite of this, man poses as being great and harbours no doubts of his power. God, time and again, causes the Truth to be revealed and declared, thus disproving man’s claim to greatness. But man does not learn a lesson until he is destroyed. The ruins of the ‘Ad, Thamud and other communities are concrete examples of the results of human folly. The very days that these peoples considered auspicious became the very reverse at the behest of the Almighty. Here ‘inauspicious days’ means winter, for the Arabs called winter inauspicious.
آدمی ایک ایسی دنیا میں ہے جہاں زمین وآسمان کی عظمتیں اس کی بڑائی کی نفی کررہی ہیں۔ جہاں موت کا واقعہ ہر روز انسان کو حقیر اور بے زور ثابت کررہا ہے۔ اس کے باوجود آدمی بڑا بنتا ہے۔ پھر بھی وہ اس گمان میں رہتا ہے کہ وہ زور والا ہے۔
خدابار بار حقیقت کا اعلان کراتا ہے۔ وہ بار بار انسان کی بڑائی کے دعوے کو باطل ثابت کررہا ہے۔ مگر کوئی اس وقت تک نصیحت نہیں لیتا جب تک اسے مٹا نہ دیا جائے۔ عاد وثمود اور دوسری قوموں کے کھنڈر اسی کی مثال ہیں۔ انھوں نے جن دنوں کو اپنے ليے مبارک سمجھ رکھا تھا وہی دن خدا کے حکم سے ان کےلیے منحوس دن بن کررہ گئے۔
