حُرِّمَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحۡمُ ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيۡرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ وَٱلۡمَوۡقُوذَةُ وَٱلۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَآ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيۡتُمۡ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسۡتَقۡسِمُواْ بِٱلۡأَزۡلَٰمِۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ فِسۡقٌۗ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ يَئِسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن دِينِكُمۡ فَلَا تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ وَٱخۡشَوۡنِۚ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَٰمَ دِينٗاۚ فَمَنِ ٱضۡطُرَّ فِي مَخۡمَصَةٍ غَيۡرَ مُتَجَانِفٖ لِّإِثۡمٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful
Some animals, due to their being harmful from the point of view of health and morality, are not fit to be consumed by human beings as food. That is the sole reason for Almighty God having forbidden pork. Similarly, there are many things in the body of an animal besides its flesh that are not fit to be eaten. Blood is one of these. Accordingly, in Islam a certain method of slaughtering an animal (dhabh) is prescribed in order to ensure that after slaughtering all of the animal’s blood oozes out. In other methods of killing an animal, except dhabh, the blood of the animal remains absorbed in its flesh and does not get fully separated. For the same reason, in the Islamic law, the consumption of all types of dead animals is also forbidden, because the blood of a dead animal immediately gets absorbed in its flesh. Similarly, meat that is somehow polluted by polytheistic belief is forbidden; for example, the meat of an animal slaughtered by invoking any name other than that of God or the meat of animals in order to attain nearness to (or to appease) anybody other than God. However, God by His special grace has made the allowance that any starving person who has to choose between death and taking forbidden food may opt for the latter. ‘Today I have perfected your religion for you’ i.e. the commandments that were to be given to you have all been given. Whatever was destined to be sent to you has all been sent. Here there is no mention about the perfection of religion in the absolute sense; it is only a declaration of the completion of the process of revelation of the Quran which was started earlier. This mentions the completion of revelation and not that of the religion. Therefore, the wording is not ‘Today I have perfected the religion,’ but rather ‘Today I have completed your religion for you.’ The fact is that the religion of God was given to man in every period in perfect form. God has never sent imperfect religion to man. God has put the people following the Quran on such a firm footing that by virtue of their latent potential they have gone beyond the reach of any external danger. Now if that community comes to any harm, it will be due to its internal weaknesses and not due to any external attacks. And the greatest guarantee of being free from internal weaknesses is that its members should have fear of God at heart.
بعض جانور اپنے طبی اور اخلاقی نقصانات کی وجہ اس قابل نہیں کہ انسان ان کو اپنی خوراک بنائے۔ خنزیر کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے اسی سبب سے حرام قرار دیا ۔ اسی طرح جانور کے جسم میں گوشت کے علاوہ کئی دوسری چیزیں ہوتی ہیں جو انسانی خوراک بننے کے قابل نہیں۔ انھیں میں سے خون بھی ہے۔ چنانچہ اسلام میں جانور کو ذبح كرنے كي ايك خاص صورت مقرر كي گئي هے تاكه جانور كے جسم كا خون پوري طرح بهه كر نكل جائے۔ ذبح كے سوا جانور كو مارنے کے جو طریقے ہیں ان میں خون جانور کے گوشت میں جذب ہو کر رہ جاتا ہے، وہ پوری طرح اس سے الگ نہیں ہوتا۔ اسی سبب سے شریعت میں مردار کی تمام قسموں کو بھی حرام کردیاگیا۔ کیوں کہ مردار جانور کا خون فوراً ہی اس کے گوشت میں جذب ہوجاتا ہے۔ اسی طرح ایسا گوشت بھی حرام کردیا گیا جس میں کسی طرح مشرکانہ عقیدہ کی آمیزش ہوجائے۔ مثلاً غیر اللہ کا نام لے کر ذبح کرنا یا غیر اللہ کے تقرب کی خاطر جانور کو قربان کرنا۔ تاہم اللہ نے اپنی رحمت خاص سے یہ گنجائش دے دی کہ کسی کو بھوک کی ایسی مجبوری پیش آجائے کہ اس کو موت یا حرام خوراک میں سے ایک کو لینا ہو تو وہ موت کے مقابلہ میں حرام خوراک کو اختیار کرے۔
’’آج میں نے تمھارے دین کو تمھارے لیے کامل کردیا‘‘، یعنی تم کو جو احکام ديے جانے تھے وہ سب دے ديے گئے۔ تمھارے لیے جو کچھ بھیجنا مقدر کیا گیا وہ سب بھیجا جاچکا۔ یہاں علی الاطلاق دین کے کامل كيے جانے کاذکر نهيں ہے بلکہ امت محمد ی پر جو قرآن نازل ہونا شروع ہوا تھا اس کے پورے ہونے کا اعلان ہے۔ یہ نزول کی تکمیل کا ذکر ہے، نہ کہ دین کی تکميل کا۔ اسی لیے الفاظ یہ نہیں ہیں کہ ’’آج میں نے دین کو کامل کردیا‘‘ بلکہ یہ فرمایا کہ ’’آج میں نے تمھارے دین کو تمھارے لیے کامل کردیا‘‘۔ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ خدا کا دین ہر زمانہ میں اپنی کامل صورت میں انسان کو دیاگیا ہے۔ خدا نے کبھی ناقص دین انسان کے پاس نہیں بھیجا۔
قرآن کو ماننے والی امت کو خدا نے اتنی مضبوط بنیادوں پر قائم کردیا ہے کہ وہ اپنی امکانی قوت کے اعتبار سے ہر بیرونی خطرہ کی زد سے باہر جاچکی ہے۔ اب اگر اس کو کوئی نقصان پہنچے گا تو اندرونی کمزوریوں کی وجہ سے، نہ کہ خارجی حملوں کی وجہ سے۔ اور اندرونی کمزوریوں سے پاک رہنے کی سب سے بڑی ضمانت یہ ہے کہ اس کے افراد اللہ سے ڈرنے والے ہوں۔
