وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّن قَرۡنٍ هُمۡ أَشَدُّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا فَنَقَّبُواْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ هَلۡ مِن مَّحِيصٍ
And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in [striking] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape
Nations of the world progress and rise until they reach their zenith. But, when they are afflicted by God’s scourge, as a result of their misdeeds, they are reduced to such a condition that they cannot find any place in the world to which they can run away or in which they might take refuge. There are great lessons in these events of history. But lessons can be learnt only by one who is mentally alive so that he may derive their unspoken message from events, or by one in whom the capacity to hear is unimpaired, so that when divine messages are conveyed to him, they go straight to the core of his innermost being unimpeded.
قومیں ابھرتی ہیں اور عروج کو پہنچ جاتی ہیں مگر جب وہ اپنی بد اعمالی کے نتیجہ میں خدا کی زد میں آتی ہیں تو ان کا حال یہ ہوتا ہے کہ زمین میں کہیں کوئی جگہ نہیں ہوتی جہاں وہ بھاگ کر پناہ لے سکیں۔ تاریخ کے ان واقعات میں زبردست نصیحت ہے۔ مگر نصیحت وہ شخص لے گا جس کے اندر یا تو سوچنے کی صلاحیت زندہ ہو کہ وہ خود واقعات کے خاموش پیغام کو اخذ کرسکے۔ یا اس کے اندر سننے کی صلاحیت زندہ ہو کہ جب اس کو بتایا جائے تو وہ اس کے اندرون تک بلا روک ٹوک پہنچے۔
