وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوۡنَهُۥٓ أَبَدَۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers
When a book of God is given to a community, it is given for the purpose of its being followed. But a community which does not become the bearer of the book in that sense is like a donkey on which academic books are loaded without its being aware of what they are. The Jews did not follow the teachings of their religion, but they had made it a sign of pride for themselves. But this sort of pride is not going to be of any use to anybody. Such pride is always false pride, and the proof of this is that no proud person is ready to make sacrifices for the religion which he had made a matter of pride. However, when death overtakes such people, they will come to know that the pride on which they were living in the world will bring them nothing but dishonour in the Hereafter.
خدا کی کتاب جب کسی قوم کو دی جاتی ہے تو اس لیے دی جاتی ہے کہ وہ اس کو اپنے اندر اتارے اور اس کو اپنی زندگی میں اپنائے۔ مگر جو قوم اس معنی میں کتاب آسمانی کی حامل نہ بن سکے اس کی مثال اس گدھے کی سی ہوگی جس کے اوپر علمی کتابیں لدی ہوئی ہوں اور اس کو کچھ خبر نہ ہو کہ اس کے اوپر کیا ہے۔
یہود نے اگرچہ عملی طور پر خدا کے دین کو چھوڑ رکھا تھا، اس کے باوجود وہ اس کو اپنے قومی فخر کا نشان بنائے ہوئے تھے۔ مگر اس قسم کا فخر کسی کے کچھ کام آنے والا نہیں۔ ایسا فخر ہمیشہ جھوٹا فخر ہوتا ہے۔ اور اس کا ایک ثبوت یہ ہے کہ آدمی جس دین کو اپنے فخر کا سامان بنائے ہوئے ہوتا ہے اس کے لیے وہ قربانی دینے کو تیار نہیں ہوتا۔ تاہم جب موت آئے گی تو ایسے لوگ جان لیں گے کہ دنیا میں وہ جس فخر پر جی رہے تھے وہ آخرت میں انہیں ذلت کے سوا اور کچھ دینے والا نہیں۔
