وَرَدَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِغَيۡظِهِمۡ لَمۡ يَنَالُواْ خَيۡرٗاۚ وَكَفَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلۡقِتَالَۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزٗا
And Allah repelled those who disbelieved, in their rage, not having obtained any good. And sufficient was Allah for the believers in battle, and ever is Allah Powerful and Exalted in Might
At the Battle of Ahzab, or the Trenches, conditions were very severe. But, in this battle the stage of regular fighting was never reached. Almighty God sent stormy winds and an army of angels against the enemies and terrified them to such an extent that they themselves fled the battlefield. The Jews of Madinah (the Banu Qurayzah) had entered into a pact of peace with the Muslims, but on the occasion of the Battle of Ahzab, they betrayed the Muslims. In breach of the pact, they supported the idolaters. Therefore, when the army of the attackers left Madinah, the Prophet Muhammad, as ordained by God, invaded the areas occupied by the Banu Qurayzah and the Islamic forces besieged their forts. The siege lasted for twenty five days. When they surrendered, everything that they possessed was forfeited.
غزوۂ خندق (احزاب) میں حالات بے حد سخت تھے۔ مگر اس میں باقاعدہ جنگ کی نوبت نہیں آ ئی۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہوا کا طوفان اور فرشتوں کا لشکر بھیج کر دشمنوں کو اس طرح سراسیمہ کیا کہ وہ خود ہی میدان چھوڑ کر چلے گئے۔
مدینہ کے یہود (بنو قریظہ) کا مسلمانوں سے صلح اور امن کا معاہدہ تھا۔ مگر جنگ احزاب کے موقع پر انھوں نے غداری کی۔ وہ معاہدہ کو توڑ کر مشرکین کے ساتھی بن گئے۔ جب حملہ آوروں کا لشکر مدینہ سے واپس چلا گیا تو اللہ کے حکم سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بنو قریظہ کی بستیوں پر چڑھائی کی۔ اسلامی فوج نے ان کے قلعوں کو گھیر لیا۔

دن تک محاصرہ جاری رہا۔ آخر میں خود ان کی درخواست پر سعد بن معاذ حَکَم مقرر ہوئے۔ حضرت سعد بن معاذ نے وہی فیصلہ کیا جو خود ان کی کتاب تورات میں ایسے مجرمین کےلیے مقرر ہے۔ یعنی بنو قریظہ کے سب جوان قتل کردئے جائیں۔ عورتیں اور لڑکے قیدِ غلامی میں لے ليے جائیں اور ان کے مال اور جائداد کو ضبط کرلیا جائے (استثناء
