هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّوكُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ وَٱلۡهَدۡيَ مَعۡكُوفًا أَن يَبۡلُغَ مَحِلَّهُۥۚ وَلَوۡلَا رِجَالٞ مُّؤۡمِنُونَ وَنِسَآءٞ مُّؤۡمِنَٰتٞ لَّمۡ تَعۡلَمُوهُمۡ أَن تَطَـُٔوهُمۡ فَتُصِيبَكُم مِّنۡهُم مَّعَرَّةُۢ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٖۖ لِّيُدۡخِلَ ٱللَّهُ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ لَوۡ تَزَيَّلُواْ لَعَذَّبۡنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
They are the ones who disbelieved and obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram while the offering was prevented from reaching its place of sacrifice. And if not for believing men and believing women whom you did not know - that you might trample them and there would befall you because of them dishonor without [your] knowledge - [you would have been permitted to enter Makkah]. [This was so] that Allah might admit to His mercy whom He willed. If they had been apart [from them], We would have punished those who disbelieved among them with painful punishment
The chieftains of the Quraysh had made themselves liable to be punished and engaged in battle. But in view of a greater and more important consideration, they were not fought against and instead of that a truce was reached with them. At that time there were among the Quraysh people who had in their heart of hearts given up polytheism and had faith in the oneness of God, or there were people who, because of their piety and righteousness, were likely to embrace Islam as soon as conditions normalised. If Almighty God did not cause a battle to be fought between the two sides, it was so that the aforesaid people might become believers and play their Islamic role in the world and receive God’s rewards in the Hereafter. In the eyes of God, the importance of dawah work is greater than any other consideration.
قریش کے سرداروں نے پیغمبر کے خلاف اپنی دشمنانہ حرکتوں سے اپنے آپ کو عذاب کا مستحق بنا لیا تھا اور اس قابل بنا لیا تھا کہ ان سے جنگ کی جائے۔ مگر ایک عظیم تر مصلحت کی خاطر ان سے جنگ کے بجائے صلح کرلی گئی۔ وہ مصلحت یہ تھی کہ اس وقت قریش کی جماعت میں بہت سے دوسرے لوگ بھی تھے جو یا تو اپنے دل میں شرک سے تائب ہو کر توحید پر ایمان لاچکے تھے یا ایسے لوگ تھے جن کی صالحیت کی بنا پر یقینی تھا کہ حالات کے معتدل ہوتے ہی وہ اسلام قبول کرلیں گے۔ اس لیے اللہ تعالیٰ نے دونوں فریقوں کے درمیان جنگ نہ ہونے دی۔ تاکہ وہ لوگ مومن بن کر دنیا میں اپنا اسلامی حصہ ادا کریں۔ اور آخرت میں خدا کا انعام حاصل کریں۔ اللہ کی نظر میں ہر دوسری مصلحت کے مقابلہ میں دعوت کی مصلحت زیادہ اہمیت رکھتی ہے۔
