1وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰBy the star when it descends1 lecture →2مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰYour companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred1 lecture →3وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓNor does he speak from [his own] inclination2 lectures →4إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡيٞ يُوحَىٰIt is not but a revelation revealed1 lecture →5عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰTaught to him by one intense in strength1 lecture →6ذُو مِرَّةٖ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰOne of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form1 lecture →7وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰWhile he was in the higher [part of the] horizon1 lecture →8ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰThen he approached and descended1 lecture →9فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰAnd was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer1 lecture →10فَأَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَآ أَوۡحَىٰAnd he revealed to His Servant what he revealed1 lecture →11مَا كَذَبَ ٱلۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓThe heart did not lie [about] what it saw1 lecture →12أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰSo will you dispute with him over what he saw1 lecture →13وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ نَزۡلَةً أُخۡرَىٰAnd he certainly saw him in another descent1 lecture →14عِندَ سِدۡرَةِ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰAt the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary1 lecture →15عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰٓNear it is the Garden of Refuge1 lecture →16إِذۡ يَغۡشَى ٱلسِّدۡرَةَ مَا يَغۡشَىٰWhen there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]17مَا زَاغَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰThe sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]1 lecture →18لَقَدۡ رَأَىٰ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰٓHe certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord1 lecture →19أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلۡعُزَّىٰSo have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza1 lecture →20وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰٓAnd Manat, the third - the other one21أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلۡأُنثَىٰIs the male for you and for Him the female22تِلۡكَ إِذٗا قِسۡمَةٞ ضِيزَىٰٓThat, then, is an unjust division1 lecture →23إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّآ أَسۡمَآءٞ سَمَّيۡتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلۡطَٰنٍۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهۡوَى ٱلۡأَنفُسُۖ وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓThey are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority.…24أَمۡ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰOr is there for man whatever he wishes25فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰRather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]26۞وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٖ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغۡنِي شَفَٰعَتُهُمۡ شَيۡـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ أَن يَأۡذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرۡضَىٰٓAnd how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves27إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسۡمِيَةَ ٱلۡأُنثَىٰIndeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels female names28وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَيۡـٔٗاAnd they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all29فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكۡرِنَا وَلَمۡ يُرِدۡ إِلَّا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَاSo turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life30ذَٰلِكَ مَبۡلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰThat is their sum of knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided31وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لِيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔواْ بِمَا عَمِلُواْ وَيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىAnd to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward]32ٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِكُمۡ إِذۡ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِذۡ أَنتُمۡ أَجِنَّةٞ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمۡۖ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓThose who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness.…2 lectures →33أَفَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰHave you seen the one who turned away34وَأَعۡطَىٰ قَلِيلٗا وَأَكۡدَىٰٓAnd gave a little and [then] refrained35أَعِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓDoes he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees36أَمۡ لَمۡ يُنَبَّأۡ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰOr has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses37وَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِي وَفَّىٰٓAnd [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations]38أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰThat no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another39وَأَن لَّيۡسَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰAnd that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives20 lectures →40وَأَنَّ سَعۡيَهُۥ سَوۡفَ يُرَىٰAnd that his effort is going to be seen41ثُمَّ يُجۡزَىٰهُ ٱلۡجَزَآءَ ٱلۡأَوۡفَىٰThen he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense42وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰAnd that to your Lord is the finality43وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضۡحَكَ وَأَبۡكَىٰAnd that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep44وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحۡيَاAnd that it is He who causes death and gives life45وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰAnd that He creates the two mates - the male and female46مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰFrom a sperm-drop when it is emitted47وَأَنَّ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰAnd that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation48وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغۡنَىٰ وَأَقۡنَىٰAnd that it is He who enriches and suffices49وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعۡرَىٰAnd that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius50وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱلۡأُولَىٰAnd that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad51وَثَمُودَاْ فَمَآ أَبۡقَىٰAnd Thamud - and He did not spare [them]52وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَظۡلَمَ وَأَطۡغَىٰAnd the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing53وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَةَ أَهۡوَىٰAnd the overturned towns He hurled down54فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰAnd covered them by that which He covered55فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰThen which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt56هَٰذَا نَذِيرٞ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰٓThis [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners57أَزِفَتِ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةُThe Approaching Day has approached2 lectures →58لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌOf it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover59أَفَمِنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ تَعۡجَبُونَThen at this statement do you wonder60وَتَضۡحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبۡكُونَAnd you laugh and do not weep61وَأَنتُمۡ سَٰمِدُونَWhile you are proudly sporting62فَٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِۤ وَٱعۡبُدُواْ۩So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]
