1طسٓمٓTa, Seen, Meem2تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِThese are the verses of the clear Book3لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٞ نَّفۡسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَPerhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers8 lectures →4إِن نَّشَأۡ نُنَزِّلۡ عَلَيۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةٗ فَظَلَّتۡ أَعۡنَٰقُهُمۡ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَIf We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled5وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن ذِكۡرٖ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مُحۡدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضِينَAnd no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it6فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُواْ فَسَيَأۡتِيهِمۡ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُاْ مَا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَFor they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule7أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمۡ أَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجٖ كَرِيمٍDid they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind8إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers9وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful10وَإِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئۡتِ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَAnd [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people11قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَThe people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah1 lecture →12قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِHe said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me13وَيَضِيقُ صَدۡرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرۡسِلۡ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَAnd that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron2 lectures →14وَلَهُمۡ عَلَيَّ ذَنۢبٞ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقۡتُلُونِAnd they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me15قَالَ كَلَّاۖ فَٱذۡهَبَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسۡتَمِعُونَ[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening1 lecture →16فَأۡتِيَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَGo to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds1 lecture →17أَنۡ أَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel18قَالَ أَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدٗا وَلَبِثۡتَ فِينَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life1 lecture →19وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِي فَعَلۡتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَAnd [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful20قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَآ إِذٗا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray21فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكۡمٗا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَSo I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers22وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةٞ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَAnd is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel1 lecture →23قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَSaid Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds24قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced1 lecture →25قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear26قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers27قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِيٓ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونٞ[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad1 lecture →28قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason1 lecture →29قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذۡتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيۡرِي لَأَجۡعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجُونِينَ[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned1 lecture →30قَالَ أَوَلَوۡ جِئۡتُكَ بِشَيۡءٖ مُّبِينٖ[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest1 lecture →31قَالَ فَأۡتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful32فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعۡبَانٞ مُّبِينٞSo [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest33وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيۡضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَAnd he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers34قَالَ لِلۡمَلَإِ حَوۡلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٞ[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician35يُرِيدُ أَن يُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُم بِسِحۡرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَHe wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise1 lecture →36قَالُوٓاْ أَرۡجِهۡ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبۡعَثۡ فِي ٱلۡمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَThey said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers37يَأۡتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٖWho will bring you every learned, skilled magician38فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖSo the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day39وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّجۡتَمِعُونَAnd it was said to the people, "Will you congregate40لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَThat we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant41فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُواْ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجۡرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَAnd when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant2 lectures →42قَالَ نَعَمۡ وَإِنَّكُمۡ إِذٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِينَHe said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]43قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلۡقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَMoses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw44فَأَلۡقَوۡاْ حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِيَّهُمۡ وَقَالُواْ بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَSo they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant1 lecture →45فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا يَأۡفِكُونَThen Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified1 lecture →46فَأُلۡقِيَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَSo the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]47قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَThey said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds2 lectures →48رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَThe Lord of Moses and Aaron49قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَٰفٖ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know.…1 lecture →50قَالُواْ لَا ضَيۡرَۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَThey said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return51إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن يَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَIndeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers52۞وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِيٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَAnd We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued1 lecture →53فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِي ٱلۡمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَThen Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers54إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةٞ قَلِيلُونَ[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band1 lecture →55وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَAnd indeed, they are enraging us56وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَٰذِرُونَAnd indeed, we are a cautious society57فَأَخۡرَجۡنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖSo We removed them from gardens and springs58وَكُنُوزٖ وَمَقَامٖ كَرِيمٖAnd treasures and honorable station59كَذَٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَThus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel60فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِينَSo they pursued them at sunrise61فَلَمَّا تَرَـٰٓءَا ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ قَالَ أَصۡحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُونَAnd when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken1 lecture →62قَالَ كَلَّآۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me1 lecture →63فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقٖ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِThen We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain2 lectures →64وَأَزۡلَفۡنَا ثَمَّ ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَAnd We advanced thereto the pursuers65وَأَنجَيۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَAnd We saved Moses and those with him, all together66ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَThen We drowned the others67إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers68وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful69وَٱتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَAnd recite to them the news of Abraham70إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَWhen he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship71قَالُواْ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامٗا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَThey said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted72قَالَ هَلۡ يَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَHe said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate73أَوۡ يَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ يَضُرُّونَOr do they benefit you, or do they harm74قَالُواْ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفۡعَلُونَThey said, "But we found our fathers doing thus75قَالَ أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَHe said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping76أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَYou and your ancient forefathers77فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوّٞ لِّيٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَIndeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds78ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهۡدِينِWho created me, and He [it is who] guides me79وَٱلَّذِي هُوَ يُطۡعِمُنِي وَيَسۡقِينِAnd it is He who feeds me and gives me drink80وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ يَشۡفِينِAnd when I am ill, it is He who cures me1 lecture →81وَٱلَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحۡيِينِAnd who will cause me to die and then bring me to life82وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡمَعُ أَن يَغۡفِرَ لِي خَطِيٓـَٔتِي يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِAnd who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense83رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي حُكۡمٗا وَأَلۡحِقۡنِي بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous84وَٱجۡعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدۡقٖ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَAnd grant me a reputation of honor among later generations85وَٱجۡعَلۡنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِAnd place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure86وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِيٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَAnd forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray87وَلَا تُخۡزِنِي يَوۡمَ يُبۡعَثُونَAnd do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected88يَوۡمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٞ وَلَا بَنُونَThe Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children89إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٖBut only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart7 lectures →90وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَAnd Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous1 lecture →91وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِلۡغَاوِينَAnd Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators92وَقِيلَ لَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَAnd it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship93مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلۡ يَنصُرُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ يَنتَصِرُونَOther than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves94فَكُبۡكِبُواْ فِيهَا هُمۡ وَٱلۡغَاوُۥنَSo they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators95وَجُنُودُ إِبۡلِيسَ أَجۡمَعُونَAnd the soldiers of Iblees, all together96قَالُواْ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا يَخۡتَصِمُونَThey will say while they dispute therein97تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍBy Allah, we were indeed in manifest error98إِذۡ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَWhen we equated you with the Lord of the worlds99وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَAnd no one misguided us except the criminals100فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَSo now we have no intercessors101وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٖAnd not a devoted friend102فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةٗ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَThen if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers103إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers104وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful105كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَThe people of Noah denied the messengers106إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَWhen their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah107إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger108فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me109وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds1 lecture →110فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me111۞قَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَThey said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]112قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِي بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَHe said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do113إِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّيۖ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُونَTheir account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive114وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَAnd I am not one to drive away the believers115إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞI am only a clear warner116قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِينَThey said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned117قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوۡمِي كَذَّبُونِHe said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me118فَٱفۡتَحۡ بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحٗا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِيَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَThen judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers119فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِSo We saved him and those with him in the laden ship120ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِينَThen We drowned thereafter the remaining ones121إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers122وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful123كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَAad denied the messengers124إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَWhen their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah125إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger126فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me127وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds128أَتَبۡنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةٗ تَعۡبَثُونَDo you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves129وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُونَAnd take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally130وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِينَAnd when you strike, you strike as tyrants131فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me132وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعۡلَمُونَAnd fear He who provided you with that which you know133أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنۡعَٰمٖ وَبَنِينَProvided you with grazing livestock and children134وَجَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍAnd gardens and springs135إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖIndeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day136قَالُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡنَآ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَٰعِظِينَThey said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors137إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَThis is not but the custom of the former peoples138وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَAnd we are not to be punished139فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَAnd they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers140وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful141كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَThamud denied the messengers142إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَWhen their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah143إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger144فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me145وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds146أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَWill you be left in what is here, secure [from death]147فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖWithin gardens and springs148وَزُرُوعٖ وَنَخۡلٖ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِيمٞAnd fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit149وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتٗا فَٰرِهِينَAnd you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill150فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me151وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَAnd do not obey the order of the transgressors152ٱلَّذِينَ يُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا يُصۡلِحُونَWho cause corruption in the land and do not amend153قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَThey said, "You are only of those affected by magic154مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَYou are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful155قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٞ لَّهَا شِرۡبٞ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖHe said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day156وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٖ فَيَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖAnd do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day157فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُواْ نَٰدِمِينَBut they hamstrung her and so became regretful158فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَAnd the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers159وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful160كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَThe people of Lot denied the messengers161إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَWhen their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah162إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger163فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me164وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds165أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَDo you approach males among the worlds166وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَٰجِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَAnd leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing167قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِينَThey said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted168قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِينَHe said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]169رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهۡلِي مِمَّا يَعۡمَلُونَMy Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do170فَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَSo We saved him and his family, all171إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَExcept an old woman among those who remained behind172ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَThen We destroyed the others173وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَAnd We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned174إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers175وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful176كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ لۡـَٔيۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَThe companions of the thicket denied the messengers177إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَيۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَWhen Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah178إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞIndeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger179فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِSo fear Allah and obey me180وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَAnd I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds181۞أَوۡفُواْ ٱلۡكَيۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِينَGive full measure and do not be of those who cause loss182وَزِنُواْ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمِAnd weigh with an even balance183وَلَا تَبۡخَسُواْ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِينَAnd do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption184وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَAnd fear He who created you and the former creation185قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَThey said, "You are only of those affected by magic186وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَYou are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars187فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَSo cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful188قَالَ رَبِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَHe said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do189فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٍAnd they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day190إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers191وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُAnd indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful192وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَAnd indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds193نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِينُThe Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down1 lecture →194عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَUpon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners195بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيّٖ مُّبِينٖIn a clear Arabic language196وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِي زُبُرِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَAnd indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples1 lecture →197أَوَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَايَةً أَن يَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُاْ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَAnd has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel198وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِينَAnd even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners199فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيۡهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِينَAnd he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it200كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنَٰهُ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَThus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals201لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَThey will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment202فَيَأۡتِيَهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَAnd it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not203فَيَقُولُواْ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَAnd they will say, "May we be reprieved204أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَSo for Our punishment are they impatient205أَفَرَءَيۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ سِنِينَThen have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years206ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَAnd then there came to them that which they were promised207مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُمَتَّعُونَThey would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided208وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَAnd We did not destroy any city except that it had warners209ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَAs a reminder; and never have We been unjust210وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُAnd the devils have not brought the revelation down211وَمَا يَنۢبَغِي لَهُمۡ وَمَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَIt is not allowable for them, nor would they be able212إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَIndeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed213فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِينَSo do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished214وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَAnd warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred1 lecture →215وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَAnd lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers216فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّي بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَAnd if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing217وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِAnd rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful218ٱلَّذِي يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُWho sees you when you arise219وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَAnd your movement among those who prostrate220إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُIndeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing221هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُShall I inform you upon whom the devils descend222تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٖThey descend upon every sinful liar223يُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَٰذِبُونَThey pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars224وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَAnd the poets - [only] the deviators follow them1 lecture →225أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَDo you not see that in every valley they roam226وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَAnd that they say what they do not do227إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَExcept those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged.…
